Lift Trucks - Green Cubes Technology

Lift Trucks

Lithium batteries and high-efficiency chargers are vital innovations in the material handling industry, introduced by leading forklift battery manufacturers like Green Cubes. They save time, money, and the environment. When compared to traditional lead-acid technology, lithium forklift batteries charge faster, last longer, and deliver more usable energy with each discharge.

There are many different types of material handling lift trucks, from large sit-down counterbalance trucks to walkie pallet jacks. These industrial trucks are divided into classes, of which four are relevant to conversion to Li-ion based power systems:

  • Class I: Electric Motor Rider Forklifts
  • Class II: Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Forklifts (Reach Trucks, Order Pickers)
  • Class III: Electric Pallet Jacks, Stackers, and Tow Tractors
  • Class IV: Internal Combustion Cushion Tire Forklifts

Class I Forklifts are electric motor riders. These electric-powered forklifts are ideal for loading and unloading tractor-trailers, handling pallets, and a number of other applications in industries ranging from cold food and beverage storage, retail, manufacturing, and warehouses.

By definition, Class I forklifts are powered by a battery, which has historically been Flooded Lead Acid. As compared to Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) forklifts Class I forklifts are much quieter and create no emissions, making them a popular choice for indoor applications. Forklifts in this class, ranging in lift capacity from 3,000 to 40,000 pounds.

Class II lift trucks are electric, narrow aisle models. They are designed with maneuverability that allows them to operate in tight spaces and narrow aisles, picking and putting away inventory, and these trucks provide enterprises the ability to increase vertical racking space without expanding their current warehouse footprint. Some examples of Class II industrial trucks are reach trucks and order pickers.

Class III equipment is commonly used in warehouses, retail stores, and other facilities for material handling tasks. Electric pallet jacks, stackers, and tow tractors require batteries to power their operation. For these applications, it’s important to choose a reliable battery from a reputable forklift battery manufacturer.

Pallet jacks and stackers typically require smaller batteries than Class I and II equipment, and they usually operate at 24V. To efficiently charge multiple batteries at once, we recommend our 15kW charger, which can charge three pallet jacks simultaneously.

Class IV Forklifts are ICE cushion tire trucks. This class of sit-down forklifts is designed for indoor use but run on diesel fuel, LP gas, gasoline, or compressed natural gas. Lithium SAFEFlex batteries are an appropriate replacement for ICE powered forklifts because they are emissions free and often provide an economic benefit over diesel or propane.

The Lithium SAFEFlex battery is a product of Green Cubes Technology, one of the leading forklift battery manufacturers in the industry. It is the most advanced motive power lithium battery for all electric material handling (MHE) classes 1-3, including small pallet jacks, end riders, center riders, narrow aisle forklifts, 3-4 wheel forklifts, large turret trucks, and other material handling vehicles.

Lithium SAFEFlex integrates Lithium Iron Phosphate cells, electronics, packaging, and a software platform that was designed specifically for the rugged requirements of material handling. The advanced mechanical packaging meets the impact forces of a large forklift, and the rugged automotive-grade Battery Management System (BMS) makes Lithium SAFEFlex the most reliable lithium battery for the material handling industry.

Advantages of Lithium SAFEFlex Batteries for Forklifts:

  • Single battery per vehicle – With a higher cycle life and optimized for opportunity charging, Lithium SAFEFlex batteries make battery swapping obsolete. This allows you to reclaim valuable space in your battery room and free up floor space.
  • Safety and reliability – Our motive power batteries are constructed using UL approved components and incorporate continuous monitoring of voltage, current, and temperature. Safety is ensured through controlled contactors. The Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry used in these batteries is the safest option in the lithium-ion battery category.
  • Versatile applications – Lithium SAFEFlex batteries cater to various electric material handling classes 1-3, including small Pallet Jacks, End Riders, Center Riders, Narrow Aisle Forklifts, 3-4 Wheel Forklifts, and large Turret Trucks. Additionally, these batteries are ballasted for heavy counterbalance applications when required.
  • Energy and cost savings – With a recharge efficiency of 98%+, these batteries provide significant electrical savings and minimize the damaging effects of battery heating.
  • Plug-and-play convenience – Lithium SAFEFlex batteries feature a single-point battery connection, making them a seamless drop-in replacement for traditional lead-acid batteries. Special modifications are not needed, and battery swaps become a thing of the past.
  • Maintenance-free operation – Say goodbye to weekly watering and equalization routines. Lithium motive power batteries are sealed and acid-free. The built-in Battery Management System (BMS) automatically monitors and conditions the battery for optimal performance.

Benefits of Lithium SAFEFlex batteries:

  • CAN communication and voltage detection – These chargers support simultaneous charging of multiple forklifts, resulting in lower utility costs and enhanced efficiency.
  • High efficiency and compact design – The chargers are small, light, and designed for wall mount or ceiling placement, occupying minimal space.
  • Modular charging – The chargers are equipped with a modular design, allowing for the simultaneous charging of 1, 2, or 3 batteries from a single charger.

Customer Ratings and Reviews

Green Cubes is a great company, great engineers, great product. That’s been kind of my number one go to [lithium] battery.

President, Industrial Power Company

The thing I like about Green Cubes is that they have other lines of business outside of material handling batteries, they have been in the lithium world for a long time. I can trust they will likely stay in business

VP, Industrial Battery Company

Green Cubes [differentiates] on its capability to custom design for things like the hardware, the firmware, and inverters. They also have economies of scale because they make battery systems for things like forklifts.

VP, Powered Cart OEM

I am doing some work with them right now. We’re learning their products, and looking at demos. They have good people. They seem like they know the technology well – they say they’re a technology company. I like that they’ve been in the lithium business a long time. I can trust they will likely stay in business.

Sales Manager, Industrial Battery Company

Green Cubes Technology would be my go-to for lithium applications.

Branch Manager, OEM

I’ve told my friends at Green Cubes, I don’t plan on going anywhere. I believe in loyalty.
