Lead-acid batteries tend to slack off as they approach the end of their shifts. As lead-acid batteries get close to the end of their cycle, they produce less and less voltage, meaning that lift times get longer. By contrast, the Green Cubes Technology Lithium SAFEflex battery system provides constant power during its cycle time. With a battery that works hard until it needs to recharge, companies can recapture lost efficiency and a gain a return on investment in less than a year.

Joe Merino – Husband, Father, Grandfather, Friend
On September 12, 2016, Jose (Joe) Merino, founder of Green Cubes (formerly branded as UNIPOWER), lost his fight with cancer while surrounded by his family and friends.
A longtime resident of Coral Gables, Joe was born in Havana, Cuba on July 26, 1949 and immigrated to Miami at the age of 11. He received his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and his MBA from Florida International University. After having several key positions with Burger King and Coulter Corporation, Joe accepted an executive operations position at the Power Products Division of Computer Products, Inc.
The highlight of Joe’s career was his orchestration of a management buyout of the Power Products division and the founding of Green Cubes Corporation in November 1988. Joe’s vision convinced 49 people to take pay cuts, many of them also investing their life savings in this spinoff company. In 1993, Green Cubes was named on INC magazine’s list of fastest growing privately held companies and was the prestigious winner of the Florida Governor’s Sterling award for quality.
Joe was intensely proud of Green Cubes and everybody who worked for the company. Many viewed Joe as a father figure as well as their boss. His zest for life and the bond he created with customers guided the company and all of its employees through good and bad times alike. In addition to his passion for Green Cubes, Joe enjoyed a love for the ocean and an enthusiasm for collecting antique cars. He was an integral member of his local church for many years and was driven by his strong devotion to his faith and his family. His favorite quote was “God is in control.” Joe is survived by his wife, three daughters, and a granddaughter, as well as his sister, mother, and several other close family members. We share in their joy for Joe’s life and sorrow in his parting. Joe forever will be cherished by countless friends and colleagues who were blessed to have known him.
A mass for family and friends is to be held in Joe’s memory at his local church on Friday, September 16 at 9:30 am, followed by a celebration of his life on the church’s premises.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the La Liga Contra el Cancer Miami, Florida.
Personal messages and condolences for Joe’s family can also be included on www.ferdinandfuneralhomes.com.
Messages to the Green Cubes family may be sent to press@greencubes.com or left on our social media sites.

Green Cubes (formerly branded as UNIPOWER) announces the introduction to the North American Market of its Guardian Hybrid DC power solution after large deployments in Africa and Asia. Combining many years of telecom power systems experience with renewable energy expertise, Green Cubes has developed a modular and fully integrated hybrid solution for telecom applications.
These Guardian Hybrid systems combine all the features of our popular Guardian DC plants while integrating Solar and generator inputs into one solution through the use of the proven performance of the HCC Hybrid controller and FPV30.40 PV Converters. The FPV30.48 converters is an extension of our high-efficiency rectifiers. It provides 2900W of power to charge batteries or provides power to system loads from the PV array.
A sophisticated Hybrid simulation tool is also available to predict and program the utilization of each source of power. Priority can be assigned to solar, battery, grid, and generator functions during installation to produce the most economical solution.
The Guardian Hybrid system can also operate in situations where the grid is not available and can be configured to minimize the use of a costly generator while providing 100% up-time.
Green Cubes (formerly branded as UNIPOWER) Launches New Corporate Brand and Logo
Today, we announced the launch of a new corporate brand and logo.
Our rebranding was initiated as a result of the company’s expansion through the acquisition of well known and established companies in the power business, including Bel Fuse’s Network Power Systems Division (“NPS” – formerly part of Power-One), and Integrated Power Systems (“IPS”).
“We have integrated the entire product line of these organizations into Green Cubes, and now it’s time to bring our brand into the future with us, as one united brand,” said Dennis Baughman, Vice President, Global Sales.
Our new brand reflects both the evolution of Green Cubes as well as the our vision for the future in supporting applications in the Telecom, Cable, Energy, Power Utilities, and Government markets. The new representation of Green Cubes also illustrates our investment in new technologies and product innovation.
“The new logo borrows from our original mark, while simultaneously moving our brand forward. We’re still using the red that represents Green Cubes – our strength and energy. But we’re also incorporating elements of ‘Technology’ and ‘Power’ through the use of the modern power symbol,” said Joe Merino, Vice President.
While the logo has changed to better represent what the company is today, we will keep the existing tagline of “Powering Technology”.
“Our mission remains the same – that is to remain committed to delivering innovative and reliable power solutions and customer focused service to our partners around the world,” said Baughman.
We have also launched a new website with improved functionality, a portal to support our sales partners around the world, a training program, and a series of training demo videos.
“We are excited about the future’, Baughman added, “This is just the start of many great things to come.”

Green Cubes Technology Launches Trials Of Lithium SafeFlex Battery With Transbotics’ Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV)
Green Cubes Technology, a leading provider of custom designed lithium solutions for industrial and medical applications announces that it has been selected by Transbotics, a division of Scott Systems International Incorporated, to start trials of its Lithium SAFEFlex batteries with Transbotics’ Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV). AGVs are driverless, computer-controlled vehicles that are programmed to transport materials through designated pickup and delivery routines within a manufacturing or distribution facility. Previously these vehicles had been using lead acid batteries that had limited ranges and lacked enough power to fuel and drive Transbotics’ various massive AGVs. This is yet the latest example of companies recognizing the failure of lead acid batteries and turning to Green Cubes Technology for its cutting edge, industry leading, lithium solutions.
